More About John: Welcome

Hi! Welcome to BeVital. I'm glad you're here.

I am (was) a high-tech refugee. I spent 25 years in tech, and am very familiar with the pressures that come with the territory.

I love teaching yoga. My desire to share yogic practices is tied to my love of discovery and my curiosity about what's possible. Yoga has a long history of some pretty amazing and mystical capacities, vitality chief among them. It has been said that Ayurveda is the science of life, and Yoga is the practice.

For several years, I led QiGong sessions at Linda Mar beach in Pacifica - 3 days a week, rain or shine (or fog!). It taught me a lot about being present and co-creative with my environment. It also taught me powerful lessons about being in the presence of discomfort and mastering my reactions and responses to discomfort. Lots of useful explorations.

I also ran a “brick and mortar” healing arts center in Los Altos for a few years, read tarot and runes professionally at East-West Bookstore, and produced Internet radio shows and podcasts in the genre of transformational media. I’ve hosted and produced two shows – Convergence and A Shamanic Life.

I love to share ideas, concepts, discoveries, and most of all, insights from interesting people. I find great satisfaction in engaging people and learning through their practices, gifts, and conversations. Their experiences add to my own understanding.

It’s from that understanding that I offer my own gifts. I’ve been trained in cross-cultural and Celtic shamanism. Yoga and QiGong are powerful tools that I use for my own well-being as well as for my clients. I’m told I’m quite good at communicating the subtle aspects of this work that are often missed in conventional venues, so I love sharing what I’ve discovered about these wonderful practices.

And you know how they say Yoga is all about the breath? It’s true. Breathwork – intimacy with one’s breath – is such a powerful healing tool. I like to say, “Breath is the first medicine.” It can heal both physical and emotional issues. We just need a little help “connecting” to it.  You’ve probably heard those words before. I promise you, there’s magic in it, and I’d love to take you there.

I also love to sing, to play music, and to garden. I love harvesting fresh fruits and vegetables, and I enjoy cooking with friends. A healthy meal prepared with love is an amazing part of my Italian heritage.

So much of what I share is a reflection of what life has offered me, and what I’ve discovered along the way. Whether it’s a healing or counseling session, a program for your organization, a yoga or QiGong session, or an outdoor activity in nature, there’s always a gift and a message waiting to be discovered and shared.

I hope you’ll find something to help you along your path to vitality here at BeVital. I’d love to share with you.
